Título: Software Visualization: Principles and Practice

Resumo: In this talk I will reflect on a quarter century of personal endeavours in the (re)search for the holy grail of software visualization. I will discuss the founding principles of the discipline, illustrate through a series of examples what software visualization can be in practice, and derive some lessons I learned.

Bio: Michele Lanza is full professor at USI, the Università della Svizzera italiana, in Lugano, Switzerland, where he co-founded the Faculty of Informatics. His doctoral dissertation, completed in 2003 at the University of Bern in Switzerland, received the Ernst Denert Award for best thesis in software engineering of 2003. Prof. Lanza received the Credit Suisse Award for best teaching in 2007 and 2009. His professional service includes probably too many program committees, and serving on the steering committees of the IEEE International Conference of Software Maintenance and Evolution (ICSME) and of the IEEE International Conference on Mining Software Repositories (MSR). He was Program co-chair of numerous conferences and has given presentations and keynotes on all continents except Antarctica.

At USI Prof. Lanza founded the Software Institute in 2017. Moreover, he leads the REVEAL research group, which he founded in 2004. REVEAL works in the areas of software visualization, evolution, and analytics. He co-authored more than enough peer-reviewed articles and the book “Object-Oriented Metrics in Practice”.
